About Me:

I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Marriage and family therapist. I have a master's degree in clinical psychology with a concerntration in Marriage and family Therapy. I have extensive training in Mindfulness based Play-family therapy and sandtray thrapy. I have experience working with individuals, families and groups and enjoy utilizing an integrated approach that meets the specific needs of the individual. I believe in working with the individual within the context of their family, both past and present. As such, I welcome and encourage the participation of family members as it is relevant to one’s goals. I implore the contextual practice of multi-directed partiality, trying to actively take all sides into account and not pretending to have a “unbiased” stance. In working with Adults, I have found sandtray therapy to be a profoundly healing medium offering us tools to communicate on the deepest level, helping us bring healing to both mind and body. When working with children and families, Mindfulness Based Play-Family Therapy developed by Dottie Higgins-Klein offers a framework for families and individuals to find healing through an integrated approach. It utilizes the power of play (a child’s natural language) and also equips parents to manage even the most challenging behaviors and communicate with their child in a meaningful and effective ways.

Becoming a Family:

Creating our own family unit is at the core of many of our most important life goals. Growing and welcoming your very own tiny human being into your world sparks a paradigm shift that can never be undone once it has begun. With the pervasiveness of social media in our lives, we have generated unmeetable expectations as to what everyday family like should be like. Anxiety among new parents, specifically mothers is at an all time high, and the search for support often leads to the uncovering of even more expectations of parenting that we are never able to meet. Mindful parenting practice allows us to generate non-judgemental awareness of the many aspects of parenting and make conscious choices in how we parent. It invites us to attune with our children and by doing so enables them to develop skills for regulating their minds, bodies, and emotions.
